Jeff Samardzija rumors

Yesterday Bruce Levine who appears on 670 The Score plus covers both the Cubs and White Sox, had an article stating that the Cubs could have interest in Jeff Samardzija.  Soon as I read it, I wasn’t exactly a fan of it.  Reasons being that when Theo and Jed traded Scott Feldman for Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop, Shark was mad because they were good friends.  Also in ’14 he was offered a team friendly deal which was refused and led him to be traded to Oakland in exchange for Addison Russell.  He’s been decent but never panned out to be an ace pitcher.  Obviously the one year with the White Sox showed he still gave up the long ball a lot.  When the Giants signed him to that five year contract it made me wonder what was management thinking?  It’s been discussed that should the Giants not contend this season, that Samardzija goes.  After talking with a fellow Cubs fan about this, Johnny Cueto likely goes for two reasons.  One is that he’s a more consistent pitcher than Shark.  Yes even on bad Reds teams he pitched very well.  Also his contract will be in an opt out year so he could choose free agency after this season.  If Samardzija is traded, hopefully anywhere but here.  He already pitched his way out of the city on both sides of town
